Build is around the corner — will we see ClawPilot?
Microsoft Build 2026 lands 2nd- 3rd June in San Francisco. The most interesting thread for me is the potential to hear about CopilotClaw— an internal project to build Microsoft’s own always-on agent.
At the end of March, Corporate VP Omar Shahine announced: "New Job at Microsoft. Bringing OpenClaw + personal agents to Microsoft 365!". It's reportedly internally known as “ClawPilot”, part of a broader initiative codenamed “Project Lobster”. Mary Jo Foley gives a good overview on Geekwire.
OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger (OpenAI) is hosting a breakout session at Build. I'll be watching and will keep you updated.
Vision in Copilot voice — screen and camera sharing, on by default
This is the one to read closely. Microsoft 365 Copilot is getting Vision — the ability to share your desktop screen or mobile camera during a Copilot voice session and ask questions about what Copilot can see (MC1325421, Roadmap ID 561037). It rolls out from late June, generally available by late July.
Vision is on by default. Users trigger it from the Copilot chat input, the Copilot key or Win+C on Windows, or the camera button in the mobile app. It’s session-bound — Copilot only processes what’s shared during the active session — and audio and video are deleted after 48 hours. Admins who don’t want it can disable it in the M365 admin center under Copilot > Settings > Copilot Actions > Screen and camera sharing, and that can be done without affecting voice.
New Models - Mistral Medium 3.5 and Opus 4.8
Copilot Studio has added Mistral Medium 3.5 as a selectable model for agent building and orchestration (Microsoft Copilot Blog, MC1325410). It’s in public preview from the end of May.
The important part for admins is the governance posture. External models are disabled by default — a tenant admin has to explicitly enable them in the Microsoft 365 admin center and configure access in the Power Platform admin center before any maker can pick Mistral. For EU organisations, there’s a genuine draw here: the model keeps data processing in-region.
Last issue it was Opus 4.7 landing in Cowork, Copilot Studio and Excel. The cadence continues — Anthropic Claude Opus 4.8 is now rolling out in Copilot Cowork. Nice to see Microsoft keeping up with model releases.
And a small but welcome change. After sustained user feedback about the floating Copilot button cluttering documents, Microsoft is giving users more control over how Copilot appears — including the option to move it back to the ribbon.
Custom dictionaries for Teams meeting transcription
A useful quality improvement. Teams now supports custom dictionaries for meeting transcription, so the transcript stops mangling your product names, acronyms and industry-specific terms. Given how much now hangs off the transcript — recap, Copilot meeting summaries, follow-ups — better source accuracy improves everything downstream. Worth seeding with your organisation’s vocabulary.
Teams Rooms and Devices News
A new Teams Rooms Builder is arriving in the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal from early-to-mid June (MC1324287, Roadmap ID 561549). It’s a visual, guided planning tool for designing traditional, signature and flex rooms — pick compatible devices and licences, and generate a downloadable Bill of Materials.
The Crestron TSS-880 and TSS-1080 panels have been added to the Teams certified hardware list.
QSC announced they have joined MDEP, expect new device news soon.
As always, if you have any questions, corrections, thoughts, or feedback, please reply. I read all the replies. I really do want to hear your thoughts.
Thanks
Tom
